 |
Sira Racing was founded in 2000. It wasn't until 2003 that Sira Racing entered their first ever East African Classic Safari Rally.
The 2003 event was a landmark in the history of the rally as it celebrated its 50th anniversary, which coincided with the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, for which the East African Classic Safari Rally rally was organized for in 1953.
A rally prepared Peugeot 504 was purchased from T.I Motorsport. This particular 504 was an ex Charters car and had previously taken part in London to Sydney and London to Mexico. The car had to be further strengthened to withstand the demanding conditions of Africa. The Sira Racing team finished 24th overall. Out of 53 cars only 42 managed to finish. 24th was a good result as this was the teams first ever entry in the East African Classic Safari Rally and the field consisted of many experienced International and Local Drivers.
